Gone are those days way back when everything was simple and straight now since there are a virus, malware, spyware and various other digital threats, therefore, you have to carry antivirus at your device at all times. The Error 8504 and 104 are one of the common errors that many users fail to resolve.

Error 8504 and 104 may appear mostly because of two reasons according to the Norton Support:

  • If the Norton have encountered any failed process during the installation or an upgrading process into a newer version.
  • If another antivirus or security product is active or present on a computer while running one antivirus.

How To Fix Error: 8504 & 104 In Norton Antivirus?

STEP 1: Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool

To go about the process, you have to uninstall your current Symantec antivirus and then proceed to run the Remove and Reinstall tool.

  1. Download the Remove and Reinstall tool.
  2. To run the file, double-click on the NRnR icon.
  3. Proceed to read the license agreement, and tap Agree.
  4. Go to Advanced Options and click Remove Only.
  5. Again, select Remove and then Restart Now.

After your device computer restarts, follow on-screen instructions to reinstall the application.

STEP 2: Uninstall all non-Symantec Antivirus Products, if any.

  1. Press Windows and R keys simultaneously to open the Run box.
  2. Type appwiz.cpl and press Enter.
  3. In front of you, a list will appear of currently installed programs, select all the non-Symantec security product, proceed by clicking Uninstall or Remove.
  4. Again, follow as the screen instructs.
  5. After the uninstalling process completes, restart your computer again.

STEP 3: Update Video graphics driver

  1. Open Run by clicking Windows + R keys together.
  2. Type devmgmt.msc and press on the Enter key.
  3. Go to Device Manager and double-click on Display adapters.
  4. Go to HD graphics card and right click on it, and select Properties from the menu.
  5. Check if the graphics card driver is outdated on the Driver tab.
  6. If it is updated, then ignore the process, if not, you need to update the download and install the latest version of the graphics card driver.
  7. After installing the latest graphics card driver, restart your PC.
